Actually, I've heard the label "pop" describe them more than "alternative". Personally, I say they're "geek rock". ;-)

Geek rock works! And my friend just introduced me to nerdcore...

Yeah MC Chris!
If you get a chance and you like video game music (which I believe falls under the classification of nerdcore), check out the band Armcannon (just do a search for them on MySpace). I'm friends with the guy who plays keyboard for them.

I'll try to remember that! I also have the Myst III soundtrack, which is a sort of video game.
