We needed a music thread. The lack thereof might not have bothered you, but it was calling out to me. I had to answer! It was my duty! I hear the call of music and I....
I'll stop. I haven't taken my medication yet today. I apologize for that. XD So anyway....
What types of music do you listen to? Who are your favorite artists? _________________

Obscure music! That's always more fun! Let's think, I've got some artists/genres here...
-The Buggles They essentially have one album, The Age of Plastic. This is the band who brought us "Video Killed the Radio Star." That song is good (well, it's amazing), but I prefer "Johnny on the Monorail" more often than not.
-Beatnik Turtle I discovered this band when they made an ablum for my favorite game company, Cheapass Games. They're also doing the really cool project called "The Song of the Day." http://www.thesongoftheday.com/ I suggest listening to "Bunsen Burner."
-Musicals I've a fair number of them. Nothing really else to say.
-Europop/eurodance I've only 1.5 albums of this style (by my reckoning), but I find it cool.
-Classical Hey, I play viola, this needs to be on here.
-Oldies I'm a sucker for the classics!
And then there's assorted songs from iTunes. _________________ A few electrons short of a stable octet. |

My latest fads have been Europop, Bubble Gum Pop (remember original Britney?), and Swing.
It makes me chuckle when I realize that I listen to "Jump, Jive, and Wail" more often than "Umbrella."
I haven't been into rap or country for a while, so they're pretty likely to be my next fads. _________________

Oh, jeez, original Britney? It's been so very long... Swing's cool, from what I hear (no pun intended).
I've never heard of those songs. I know nothing about modern (meaning within the pat 20 years) main-stream music.
Never could get into either of those. I've a friend who loves country, and I find it okay (I like when the songs do fiddling though, then it's awesome).
There's no telling where my music will lead me, other than to obscurity. _________________ A few electrons short of a stable octet. |

"Umbrella" is by Rihanna. (It's on the radio now.) "Jump, Jive, and Wail" is a swing song.
I like obscure bands. I have music from foreign countries where I don't even speak the language! For example, I bought a couple of CDs when I went to Cambodia, and they're in Khmer, so I don't know what's being said, but it's still a catchy rhythm.
A few months ago, I was obsessed with a CD that my German exchange student gave me by Wir Sind Helden. A month before that I was into Savage Garden again. I tend to get music, listen to it, forget it, and rediscover it years later and restart the circle.
My favorite band of all time is Superchic[k] because they have really deep lyrics that helped me through a lot. My favorite new singer is Britt Nicole, who has an awesome song called "Ready." _________________

Hmm. I listen to oldies or classical on the radio. Gotcha! A swing song!
My friend has some German CDs, and her other friend gives her CDs full of songs from Anime (an enlightening experience, I must say). I gave a foreign exchane student from Lebannon a copy of "Pocahontas" because he loves Disney.
I think I've actually heard of them! Not heard them, but at least we're closer now. That's cool. _________________ A few electrons short of a stable octet. |

If you like Swing, Flora, that's a whole other reason to like Kipp all the more ^^; _________________

I like finding an oldies station on the radio, but we don't get many stations where I am, so I usually listen to my iPod through my car's system.
I want the soundtrack of "Notre Dame de Paris" in its original French, but I'm having the hardest time locating a copy. It bothers me, because I took French, so I understand the words, and it's just absolutely gorgeous. *sigh*
One day, you must hear them. Do try to see if your library has Beauty from Pain by Superchic[k] or Say it by Britt Nicole. It's well worth it.
I haven't heard of either of the bands that you listed, but I do know "VIdeo Killed the Radio Star." Do you listen to other bands that I might have heard of? _________________

Not. Helping. *sigh* I can see it now....
Dear Mom and Dad,
I've found the perfect guy for me. He's a real angel and he has the most beautiful voice ever. There's just one problem: he's not real. I'm not going to let a silly thing like that stop me though. I will still love him forever. I've moved to Cyprus to stalk his creator. I'll write to you often.

We do that a lot as well, in my family. But my alarm is my radio...
That sounds very wonderful. I like listening to things in Latin (like, say, "Carmina Burana"), even though I can only understand half of it (I've no formal training in it).
I'll try. Let me write those down...
Well, they are obscure. How about the Beatles? I have a few of their songs. But that's probably it. _________________ A few electrons short of a stable octet. |

I usually get my foreign language kick off of Josh Groban or Il Divo. Gorgeous male vocals. Before I forget, my favorite song on Notre Dame is called "Vivre." Esmeralda is singing about how she doesn't want to be killed the next day because she hasn't loved anyone yet. Some of the lines are beautiful "live for the one you love... love like the day loves the night... live until you die from love..." It sounds better in French.
I've definitely heard the Beatles, but as I have a gazillion genres in my collection, I thought that I'd try for a match with your obscure music. Oh well. Hey, what's the 1.5 albums that you have of Europop/dance? _________________

I rather like all types of music, well, aside from derogatory rap and heavy metal. I've come to enjoy the genre "Junk", though, I'm sure many would find it rather painful to the ears. On a day to day basis I typically listen to Techno, Classical, Rock, Pop, and 1920-50's music. _________________ Maybe if I wander around long enough I'll find myself...

Hey, can you tell me what "junk" is? I've wondered about that genre for a while, but have never been able to figure out which groups out there are playing junk music. _________________

Junk is a mixture of Funk and Jazz. It's pretty wild as it usually starts out pretty sour. _________________ Maybe if I wander around long enough I'll find myself...
