Charlie - Brigit - Mina - Kipp
Charlie
First Appears In: #01. Enrolment
Bio:
In her sleepy Pennsylvania suburban home, Charlie Fairfax is an Average Jane who would much rather melt into the background than draw any unwanted attention to herself. As a result she hides her poetic talent under a bushel. She is the only artistic one in an entire snobby family of potential or successful businessmen and women, so feels like the black sheep both at home and school. Shortly after her house was broken into, she received a letter inviting her to an interview at a prestigious private school called the Muse Academy. So prestigious, nobody has even heard of it.
The one who invited her was the Dean of the Academy, Callista O. Peterson, who reveals herself to be the head Muse, Calliope, and invites her to become a full-time student at the exclusive school for the arts. There is only one catch though: she will be the only mortal in a school of immortals, and life is tougher when the risk is higher.
Luckily for Charlie, she has the protection of her roommate – an elf named Brigit – and a whole host of deities looking out for her. She goes from being the outsider at school to being at the core of her group of new friends, and if she’s ever in trouble they will drop anything to help her out.
Brigit
First Appears In: #01. Enrolment
Bio:
The first meeting between Charlie and Brigit could have gone a lot better. The elf was sent by Calliope to discretely find copies of the mortal’s beautiful poetry so they could judge if she could attend the previously immortals-only school.
Bitter, artistic and slightly vain, Brigit is accommodating to anyone she deems worthy to talk to, which is pretty much anyone she doesn’t find too ditzy or Madison Avenue. She was Charlie’s first friend at the Muse Academy, eventually taking pity on her for being such an outcast and being treated like she could break at any time. Both Melpomene and Urania would agree that she excels in Tragedy and Astronomy.
Though a great lover of anything obscure and different, she is yet to realise that by being such an adamant non-conformist she is conforming to a stereotype too. Out of the whole group, she is the most down-to-earth and likes to add a little realism to their schemes, lest they become too fantastic to control.
Mina
First Appears In: #02. Birds of a Feather
Bio:
Yani’s right-hand woman is the voice for her sorority in the Aphrodite House. It is a mystery why such a butter-wouldn’t-melt angel is hanging out with the nefarious sorority girls, but perhaps her girl-next-door act is just that. An act. Regardless, she made an enemy of Brigit long ago and the elf is determined to clip her wings once and for all.
Kipp
First Appears In: #02. Birds of a Feather
Bio:
Because of his quiet, clumsy nature and dedication to learning, poor sweet-natured Kipp is considered a bit of an outcast in the Muse Academy. His various quirks include a child-like and naïve nature, bookishness and a talent for music. As an angel it is his natural instinct to protect and be loyal to his friends, making him a great character to have around.
Although he is one of Thalia’s prime Comedy students, Kipp also plays the drums and an array of other instruments in Euterpe’s Music class, which is his academic strength. Euterpe sees him as one of her most adaptable students, being able to play almost any instrument he puts his mind to. He is determined to become a travelling muse, inspiring musicians wherever he travels, but whether he can keep his short attention span on this goal for long is a different matter.
