Calliope

First Appears In: #01. Enrolment

Known Powers:Aura

Bio:

Calliope is the oldest and the wisest of the Muses, Greek goddesses of the arts, and therefore the Dean of the Muse Academy which she runs with her eight sisters. On first view, Calliope is a sombre, serious but beautiful woman who takes great pride in her appearance. You’d have to crack a hard shell to realise there’s more to this strict, orderly dean than meets the eye. The Muse Academy is her brainchild, her pride and joy: she is fiercely protective of it and worries about her opponents taking over and taking control of this hoard of magical beings if she lets her guard down. Calliope is a model principal, treating all manner of mythological creature as equals within the school . . . even the fragile mortals.

Erato

First Appears In: #01. Enrolment

Bio:

Ditzy Erato is one of the Academy's favourite personalities. She adores all her students and can see potential in each and every one, even the most pessimistic. She can be naïve and too trusting at times, but the students would much rather that than a strict, downhearted professor like Euterpe and Melpomene. Erato often finds herself on the Tragedy Muse's bad side, though she doesn't do so deliberately as does her sister Thalia.

Melpomene

First Appears In: #02. Birds of a Feather

Bio:

Melpomene (or Mel, though she would prefer to be called Melpomene) isn't exactly sunshine and rainbows, though if she was she wouldn't have been given her job. She is the Muse of Tragedy: a very pessimistic goddess with a penchant for schadenfreude and a secret love of soap operas. To her never-ending dismay, her constant cynicism can sometimes attract comical types, such as her sister Thalia, and their spats have to be broken up by the two remaining Drama Muses, Erato and Clio, before the Big Cheese herself finds out.

Thalia

First Appears In: #02. Birds of a Feather

Bio:

The smallest Muse, Thalia, is living proof that big personalities come in small packages. Relaxed and mellow, she can often be confused for a college student by those who don't know any better. But as friendly and goofy as she is, Thalia can also be the instigator of mischief when her interest begins to drop, particularly with her sister Melpomene.

Apollo

First Appears In: #01. Enrolment

Bio:

After the changing of the deities so many years ago, Apollo stepped back from the limelight and decided to invest his skills as god of medicine and music into helping Calliope run the Academy. He doesn't seem to have any qualms about having some of his powers taken away. If anything, it's made him relax and 'hang loose' a little more now he has the burden of responsibility off his shoulders. Apollo is a very mellow, smooth-talking individual, and the subject of most of the Academy girls' teacher crushes. As an oracle, his predictions are few and far between nowadays, but they do still occur.

Seen as the 'leader of the Muses' in a lot of Greek mythology, as time went by it became clear who really wore the pants between him and the real Head Muse, Calliope. After seeing the potential the Academy could possibly offer, Apollo has been gunning for Calliope's job since the school was first built. He has settled on a position as the deputy dean and head medic, but every so often a little of that blind, selfish ambition will come out. Everyone can see he isn't disciplined enough to run such a high-calibre institution ... well, everyone but Apollo himself.

Psyche

First Appears In: #01. Enrolment

Known Powers: Spirit Wings
Aura

Bio:

Non-threatening and softly spoken, Psyche often acts as a mediator in fights between students and faculty alike. She has had plenty of practice in calming wild beasts when it comes to the stress of her husband's job. Her soothing appearance and trustworthy nature earned her the ideal role as the Academy's shrink.

She is a natural beauty compared to her overly made-up mother-in-law Aphrodite who, though she eventually accepted Psyche into her family, still treats her as a lowly mortal and forces her to live in her shadow.

Max

First Appears In: #01. Enrolment

Bio:

Max is the genial valet who drives the Academy carriage, entrusted by the dean with the safety of her potential students. Although he is rarely seen, the Academy would be nothing without him, as he works behind the scenes running errands and looking after the stables around the side of the Academy.

Ted

First Appears In: #01. Enrolment

Bio:

The Academy's crabby guard is as bad-tempered and stubborn as a ... well, as a mule. He is always the first to point the finger at whoever he suspects might be causing trouble. The upside to this is that the Academy students are in safe hooves when Ted’s around. The downside is he has a tendency to make a lot of enemies quickly. My advice? Lay off the horse puns. It's too late for me ...
