Monday May 17rd 2010:
SO. A very hectic week full of computer problems, teething 1-year-olds, weddings and immigration has meant I only managed to get a sketched page done this week. I think I've isolated the computer problem, but since this is an issue that will cost at least $100 to fix, you may be waiting a while for a decent update schedule to resume.
But this brings me spritely on to the next issue.
I'll be going on vacation starting June 4th for just over a month, during which time I would like to put the comic on a short hiatus and work on preparing the next MA installment, 'Ranch of Fire', to begin when I come back. However, there will be some changes. I've been thinking very seriously about changing the comic's format. I'm a one-woman band here and looking after my daughter is my full-time job. The comic is a not-even-close second. As you can probably tell the quality has been lacking lately, purely down to that pesky little thing called 'life' that gets in the way every now and then. Annoying, isn't it? To put things into perspective, when I was updating multiple times a week and in full colour, I would sometimes be spending 15 hours or more PER DAY just inking and colouring the comic. It's no easy task, and not difficult to see how I would get a little burned out. Something has to give. And in truth, I lose far more than I gain every year on the comic so I've given up trying to pursue it professionally.
However, MA is my brainchild and I don't want to give it up. That would be throwing 3 years of work down the drain. So I'm going to propose a compromise. I'm going to try and get the remaining 7 pages of this book sketched and will post them before I leave. When I come back from vacation, I'll be relaxed and refreshed and ready to start anew. However, coloured pages will be a rarity. I'd rather focus on the storyline than the subpar artwork, and some people have already said they don't care if it's coloured or not, just as long as I update. If I can get my schedule back on track with sketched or inked pages, I'll be able to get back my twice weekly update schedule, or even surpass that. Please send me your thoughts, either via Shoutbox, email or forum. I draw this comic for you guys and I need your input so if you stay silent, I'm a little lost on what to do.
Once again, thank you SO MUCH to my loyal readers who have been sticking by the comic during these taxing few months. You've all been amazingly supportive, and I hope to make it up to you soon.
